MIT study finds it doesn’t make sense for AI to replace most jobs
MIT's study from its AI lab presents a key finding: AI replacing jobs is often too expensive to be worthwhile. Specifically, only 23% of tasks are cheaper to automate with AI, mainly due to high setup costs. This challenges an IMF report suggesting 40% of jobs could be automated. The study also notes that even with AI costs dropping 20% annually, widespread economical automation remains decades away, emphasizing the current financial impracticality of replacing human labor with AI in many areas.
